Ears in the Water

Whenever I feel overwhelmed by external distractions and feel a need to reset my internal compass and come back “home”, I do the following. I fill up the bathtub with warm water close to the top. I slip into the bathtub lying down, crossing my legs Indian style to make room for my torso, and immerse my ears in the water, as if I am floating in a swimming pool. I then close my eyes and do stomach breathing through my nose, concentrating my mind to my breaths to serve as a portal to the consciousness. As I inhale with my stomach, my torso floats up naturally, and as I exhale with my stomach, my torso sinks gently down. I also turn my head left-to-right and right-to-left to create a waving pattern with my hair in the water. In essence, I find this a wonderful way to re-create our fetal experience when we were all floating in amniotic fluid in our mother’s womb. After 50 deep breaths, I get up and towel myself off and feel completely energised and ready to tackle life again. I usually add Epson salt or sea salt to my bath to complement this healing/meditative experience.  Feel free to use candles, incense, or some relaxing instrumental or percussion music.

I am titanium!

I stumbled upon an emotionally evocative cover song from Angie MacMahon, of David Guetta’s, ¨Titanium¨, featuring Sia.  Titanium is well-known for its high strength-to-density ratio of any metallic element.  When I carefully listen to its lyrics, it transports me back when I was a child, the many times I experience much criticism from parents, teachers, and schoolmates.  This song and its piano-key delivery by Angie is something we can use to shield ourselves with in the face of harsh criticism, even though sometimes the intentions are well-meaning.  Thank you Angie:-)

Astrology and Tarot Insights…

Last year in Nov 2013, I had recently turned 40 years of age a month earlier and a friend from Switzerland was coming to visit me in Montreal.  I had always had an interest in the mystical and esoteric areas, and believe in its merits to serve as an insightful guide in my life.  I  cajoled my friend into accompanying me into the reading with an open mind and an open heart with zero expectations.  Without me revealing any personal information other than my date of birth and approximate time of delivery, the astrologist had effortlessly revealed a major concern in my life  that I had kept to myself privately for some time.  The details of the reading will remain confidential, but I will reveal one thing to my readership.  The session had led me to discover a unique challenge that has haunted my life for 40 years, but I was always unable to put my finger on it, until now…

Sun conjunct Uranus

A conjunction of the Sun and Uranus produces a highly self-aware individual expressing energies freely, and often in a unique fashion.  Freedom is all important, and you reflect this inclination in ways that many consider eccentric.  You are slow to mature because unrestricted attitudes make you appear childlike even as you grow into adulthood.  Your free-wheeling temperament permits you to succeed if left to do projects in your own, often progressive way.  Progress is your most important goal, and your individualism is apparent.

In closing, I find this insight extremely validating for me based on my own personal experience.  Now armed with this awareness, I have begun to accept, and make some life adjustments to accommodate and work more in line with this unique aspect of myself.

BTW, If ever you are in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and would like a reading, I would gladly recommend Ari-Anna:-)

Merging with the deer…

I meet deer frequently when I take my nature walks or when I ride my mountain bike through trails in the park next to my home.  These gentle creatures represent a fresh innocence that we can learn from just by simply observing them in silence.  Ted Andrews’ book “Animal Speak” provides a wonderful insight into the deer.

“. . . Anyone who has deer as a totem will find increasing ability to detect subtle movements and appearances. They will begin to hear what may not be said directly.

When deer show up in your life it is time to be gentle with yourself and others. A new innocence and freshness is about to be awakened or born. There is going to be a gentle, enticing lure of new adventures. Ask yourself important questions. Are you trying to force things? Are others? Are you being too critical and uncaring of yourself? When deer show up there is an opportunity to express gentle love that will open new doors to adventure for you.”

I leave this video clip to inspire you to merge with the deer.
