Soft Steps in Nature

Recently I had a compelling urge to purchase traditionally hand-crafted Native Indian moccasins from Boutique Amimoc ( in Quebec City.  So I drove 2 and a half hours to Quebec City to buy authentically-made moccasins.  The next day, I was eager to wear them on nature trails for my feet to truly experience and feel the crispy dry leaves, the tree roots, the stones and pebbles, the hard-packed dirt, the fallen branches and twigs, and finally,let’s not forget the furry soft tree moss.

The moccasins are very comfortable with thin rubber soles.  Your feet feel everything.  Every square inch of your foot gets stimulated.  I find it quite effective in grounding myself to ‘Mother Earth’ when I take my nature walks.  In addition, I place a lot of effort in my steps to walk softly and carefully reducing any disturbing noise to not frighten the squirrels, birds, or deer around me.  I listen and appreciate all the sounds the forest & creatures produce.

I stay present in every moment grounded on the soil with an open heart space projecting outwards.  After a half hour of walking the ground softly, I find myself vibrating to the same tune of the forest.  I deliberately pause, take a deep breath of fresh cool air from the trees around me and exhale out slowly through my nostrils.  I feel in sync with nature.  This is home.
